Ruth Maria (Paulat) Grovom a long time Portland/Vancouver resident, passed away at her home on May 15, 2018.
Ruth was born in St. Paul, MN to Hart and Sharron Paulat on Sept 17,1962. Sharron passed away when Ruth was 5 yrs. old and Hart later married Joyce Rader. The family moved to Idaho where Ruth grew up and graduated from Clearwater Valley High School in 1980. She attended BSU, receiving her LPN and later attended school in Portland to receive her RN. Her entire nursing career was with the VA and she was looking forward to retiring in Sept. of this year.
Ruth married Tom Grovom who had two young daughters and together they had another daughter, Holly. They later divorced.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening and helping others. She was a fierce patient advocate for our Veterans and spent much of her free time ensuring their basic needs were met or holding their hand until they went to Heaven.
She was baptized in MN and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Kamiah and was free to give her opinions and not afraid to talk about her faith in God. She knew there is life after death and we are confident she is with Jesus as we mourn our loss.
Ruth is survived by her children Holly, Rachel and Shannon all in the Portland area, her parents Hart and Joyce Paulat of Kamiah, her sisters Elizabeth of Clarkston and Kristi of ABQ, NM. She also leaves behind two grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Sharron, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Ruth's body was laid to rest in the Kamiah Cemetery on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., but her spirit will live forever with God who created and loved her and we look forward to a grand reunion in Heaven someday. Blessed be the memory of our dear Ruth.
