1959 Robert 2024

Robert Duncan

April 13, 1959 — December 15, 2024

Robert (Bob) R. Duncan, 65, of Kooskia, Idaho passed away unexpectedly on Sunday,

December 15, 2024 at his home. He was born April 13, 1959 in Elyria, Ohio to the late Ruby (Beaty) and Randal Duncan. Bob was a graduate of Elyria High School in Ohio. After graduation he went to work for the Timms Springs Company in Elyria where he was a machinist for many years prior to the company shutting down operations.

In 1993, he moved with his (ex) wife Nancy and three stepchildren to Littleton, Colorado to start anew and help a friend start up and run a small business. Then in 1998 he decided to try to become a trooper in the Colorado State Patrol and at 40 years of age enrolled in a rigorous 26- week training program. After graduating the academy he was assigned to a post in Castle Rock, Colorado where he worked the following 16 years before retiring in 2016.

After retirement, Bob decided to move back to the wooded hill country of Ohio to be the

caretaker of a friend's 260-acre farm. Just 4 years later and in the middle of Covid, he was asked by the same friend to be the caretaker of a smaller property overlooking the Clearwater River in Kooskia, Idaho, which he accepted and found a new community to call home.

Bob loved sports and was an exceptional baseball and softball player. He was on several championship softball teams at both the city and state levels. He played softball nearly all of his adult life and was contemplating joining a senior league in the summer of 2025 in Boise, Idaho.

Bob was also an avid traditional archer and bowhunter who loved to hunt whitetail deer with his vintage bows. Over the 50 years he bow hunted in Ohio, he harvested nearly a dozen record book worthy whitetail bucks that now hang on his wall. He truly loved the outdoors and was a member of several wildlife organizations.

Bob is the best friend anyone could ever ask for. He could be counted on to lend a hand at anytime if needed, including raising his 3 stepchildren as his own. One of his favorite things to do was to have a cup of coffee with friends and he did it as often as possible. He will be sorely missed by so many people in so many ways.

Bob is proceeded in death by his father Randal R Duncan and mother Ruby E Duncan (Beaty).

Bob is survived by his brother Jerry L Duncan (Julie) of Medina, Ohio, and sisters Linda S Smith (Rex) of Springfield, Missouri, and Nancy G Milchen of Elyria, Ohio.
