Richard (Dick) Lon Trainor, 94, of Kooskia, died October 22, 2019, at Grangeville, Idaho.
Richard was born in Iowa, to Harry and Eva (Simonis) Trainor. The family moved to Pablo, Montana, when he was very young. He graduated from Ronan High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he worked at the Hanford Nuclear Plant near Richland, Washington, as a reactor operator. Married Betty Ely and had two children, Richard Jr. and Janice Lynn. He and Betty divorced and Richard moved to Colorado and worked for the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant until his retirement in 1988. Married Roseann Carlton in 1986 and moved to Idaho in 1993, where he built his dream horse ranch and raised Appaloosas. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother James. Survivors include his spouse, Roseann, children Richard (Susan) and daughter Janice (Zeke) Hammond, sister Barbara Pearson and brothers David and Jerry; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Trenary Funeral Home, 18 West 1st Street, Kooskia, ID., at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 26, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's name to the Clearwater Quick Response Unit (CWQRU), 688 Sally Ann Road, Clearwater, ID. 83552.
