Larry Paul

d. October 26, 2018

Larry L. Paul, of Stites, passed away on October, 26, 2018. He was 69. He was born in October of 1949 to the late Harold and Viola Paul. Larry, the third of five children, was born into a loving home next to the Kamiah swimming pool. He spent time as a youngster playing at the Kamiah Dry Cleaners, which his parents owned.

He graduated as a Kamiah Cub in '68. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Music at LCSC. Soon after graduation he married his childhood sweetheart, Crystal Shown. They moved to Elk River, where he taught English and Music for two years. When the opportunity presented itself he moved back to the Valley to teach school at CV. For over three decades Larry taught grades 1-12, conveying his joy of music to students and the community through band, choir and music. He was extremely dedicated to his students and colleagues. He always said once he started teaching the grandkids of kids he had taught then it was time to stop. So in 2011 Larry hung up his conductor's baton and retired.

Larry learned early on of God's love and grace, spreading both to everyone he came in contact with. At the Life Center Pentecostal church he held several leadership roles. Larry's love for both God and music could be heard in the church as he played his trumpet at church, using it to worship God.

Larry never stopped learning. He took several classes throughout his lifetime to better himself personally and as a parent. His love of knowledge and desire for understanding were passed on to his kids, and he encouraged them to work hard and always strive to be better.

In his free time, Larry enjoyed being in the outdoors. He spent a lot of time hunting and fishing as a young man. His favorite thing to do was to read the newspaper each morning while enjoying his coffee on the deck.

Although he faced several health challenges throughout his life, Larry didn't let them hold him back. He had heart attacks and strokes, was run over by a rotor tiller, and suffered from liver disease. Yet he lived through them all. He continued to fight and live life. He was blessed with a great sense of humor. When you asked how he was feeling, he would reply, "with my fingers."

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Wayne, and sister, Yvonne. In addition to his wife, Crystal, he is survived by his children Sky (Ryan) Eckert, Beth, Levi, and Jonathan Paul; his grandchildren Trevor and Vivian; his sisters Cathy Warnock and LaDonna Hendren and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Services will be held at The Life Center, 4432 Highway 12 on November 10th at 11AM.
