CAROL MARGARET YOUNG returned to her heavenly home on March 11, 2016 at the age of 90. Her devotion to her family, who were with her at her final hours, and her firm belief in God, gave her peace.
Carol was born in Little Rock, Iowa on 9/06/25 to the late White and Lois McAuley. She had two sisters, Peggy Soward (now deceased) and Sally Stubbe of Omaha, NE. She married Starin Young June 12, 1948, and was happily married for 45 years until Starin's death in 1993.

Carol was blessed to have 4 grandchildren: Zack Landmark (wife Jackie), Lindsay Landmark (partner Emil Crumhorn), Jill Pitchford (husband Bryce) and Mandy Stewart (husband Jared). She started her career by moving to Idaho and working at the Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino. After her children were raised Carol went back to work as an RN at the Kamiah Medical Clinic. She then worked and retired after 20 years from the State Hospital North in Orofino.
While in high school, Carol played guard on the girls basketball team. Later as an adult she played on the Kamiah Womens Town Team. She also belonged to the Bowling League. She was a life-long member and Deacon of the Kamiah Presbyterian Church.
Carol was an avid sports fan, and never missed a Kamiah boys or girls sporting event. She loved camping with her husband, and swimming, rafting, 4-wheeling, and skiing. She also "survived" scuba diving, para-sailing, and water skiing.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 19th, at the Kamiah Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor LuAnn Howard, officiating. A coffee and dessert reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations be made to the Kamiah Community Presbyterian Church, PO Box 5, Kamiah, ID 83536.
Carol's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr Robinson of the Clearwater Valley Hospital, and to all the staff that were so kind, compassionate, and attentive. Also to Brookside Landing and their staff-Mom loved it there! Thank you for making her last years, happy ones.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Trenary Funeral Home of Kooskia, Idaho.
