Barry Roark

June 19, 1954 — September 25, 2018

Barry "Buck" Roark, an Idaho native was born on June 19th, 1954 and lived to be 64 years old. His memories live on through his beloved Wife, Jill, His Son Craig and his three Daughters, Bobbie, Stacy and Nichole. Barry spent his life caring and providing for his family and chasing his passions of exploring the mountains and hunting on horseback. Barry used to always say, "A man could spend his whole life just exploring Idaho and never see it all.." though he never gave up trying! Barry has seen more backcountry in a single lifetime than most could ever imagine, including the steep hillsides of the Southfork of the Salmon River. That is where he married the love of his life, Jill Roark; shortly before departing on a two-week honeymoon horse-pack trip in the heart of the Frank Church Wilderness.

Barry's professional career started as general construction laborer and after 35 years of tremendous hard work and dedication he successfully started his own Construction Company "Idaho Stage Construction" on the Selway River, Idaho, his home and now final resting place. Barry lived to be in the Idaho mountains with his horses and the people he loved, but the Selway was a special place to him; the kind of place he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life the second he laid his eyes on it nearly 30 years ago. Barry spent the last thirteen years exploring the Selway Wilderness and the Selway Crags were one of his favorite places.

Barry was an avid explorer, amazing husband, a wonderful Grandfather and truly the world's greatest dad. Barry did more in sixty-four years than most could in two lifetimes, but his greatest legacy and thing he loved the most was his family. Barry's love for life and his family was contagious and visible to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and seeing his smile.

"Take the time now to spend it with family and the people you love, life's short"... - Buck Roark..
